What is Blackjack?Blackjack, also sometimes called "the Game of 21", is a card game (also a casino card game) played with a deck of 52 cards. The cards include all values including A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen and King, with no jokers. In this game, the cards 2 through 10 are worth their face value. Face cards as Jacks, Queens and Kings are also worth 10 points. An ace can be counted as either one point or eleven points whichever is more favorable to the player. In the casino game, the players do not play against each other, but all individually are playing against the dealer. The object, simply stated, is to get as close to 21 points as possible without going over and �busting�. Players and the dealer can therefore �hit� their hands and receive another card, or �stay� and play with the cards that they have. Of course several options such as splitting pairs after the first two cards, or doubling ones bet and receiving only one more card add complexity to the game. Some casinos also allow players to surrender after their first two cards while surrendering half of their original bet if they wish. And what exactly is a Blackjack? A Blackjack is being dealt 21 points during the first two cards of the deal. This can only be done by being dealt an ace (counts as 11 points) and a ten value card, such as a 10, Jack, Queen or King. Most casinos will pay extra for the feat of being dealt a Blackjack. Classically, it pays 1.5 to 1, which is the same mathematically as 3 to 2.
