TIPPING BLACKJACK TERMS DICTIONARY
|
TIPPING In the game of Blackjack, tipping is often done indirectly. The most common type of tipping is for a player to play a bet for the dealer along with their own bet before the hand starts. The way this is done is to place a bet for yourself, then place another bet for the dealer nearer to the dealer than yourself, but usually about half on and half off the betting circle the casino provides. The dealer will move the bet for them if they need to for house rules. If your hand wins, then both you and the dealer will get the winnings. The dealer will then remove their winnings after the hand and put the chips into a casino holder for that purpose. The other common way to tip a dealer is when leaving a table - and again - tipping is done with casino chips and not money. In this case, if you decide to tip, you would single out part of your holdings and pass it to the dealer in an obvious way to show that it is a tip and not a money exchange. There may be other ways to tip a dealer, but the above are the two most common that we have seen. We have never seen a case where money itself was given to a dealer. It also may be confusing to give a dealer a tip when not leaving the table and not betting for them on your hand. However, that is still more acceptable than giving them money directly.
