"Blind Loyalty Begins By Becoming Blind" - Ron Plachno Forward: If someone said the quote above before me, I have no knowledge of it. It occurred to me while observing the world around me and has been in at least one of my copyrighted books. But I admit that I would not be surprised at all if other people also noted the same issue. I realize that many will take affront at what I say here, but my comment is certainly not intended to harm the good people who show a willingness to sacrifice all for others. Loyalty at the right time, for the right cause, to protect your family, your country, others who cannot protect themselves, is likely the most noble of all causes. But hopefully even these heroines and heroes will agree with me that a different loyalty to an evil cause such as taking away the rights or life of others who do not threaten us, is quite another thing. And so, even with loyalty, we must "think" and continue to ask ourselves if what we are doing is a just cause. But this thought also goes well beyond matters of life and death. For those of us humans with open minds who watch personalities on television, we will some days be amazed at how awful some responses can be. Some people show a loyalty to an ideology or a political party or a special interest that seems to defy any logic, morality or compassion. People who do things without thinking, who hate or damage others, and refuse to listen also to the warnings of others, worry me a great deal. And that often makes me wonder if the real problem is if that they have no morality, or is the problem instead that they lack the intelligence to know how dangerous it is what they are doing? I find that the nicest, most interesting and also safest people on this planet earth, are those who think for themselves, and just not simply do what they are told or believe everything they are taught. And yes, a human can certainly do that, and still have loyalty to a great cause. And in this last case, now they know why they have such loyalty ... since the cause is a good one. And in that case, they are not blind at all, but have a vision that can be called ... great.
