DO BETTING SCHEMES WORK? I can only answer that for Blackjack, which is the game that I have simulated twice in my life on different computer systems. And that answer is, "Only if such a betting system ties to the changing odds in the game as you are playing it." You see? if the betting system has nothing to do with "the health of the cards in play" then to be honest, we are just amusing ourselves, which of course, can at least be fun even if not otherwise rewarding. Now I would guess that some will disagree with me. Yes, for a period of time, some betting schemes "appear" to work. Even I have tried that and been mostly happy. And in the most popular betting scheme for Blackjack, doubling up when you lose, it may seem for quite a while that it works quite well. But then, what is it really doing? You win small, you win small, you win small, and then the day comes when you lose big. And that is the story that I find not only in real life but also billions of hands of blackjack card play by my simulator. But on the other hand, if your betting scheme ties to the health of the current deck in play, now that is another story. Yes, for those people observant and careful, a betting system based on the cards in play or still in the deck... may be in fact be a valid scheme. But now, can you get rich? Ah. That is indeed, yet another question.
